We at Camber and Hetero recognize the importance of this issue and have listed important information concerning Swine Flu below for your review.
Some facts about Swine Flu-What is swine flu?
Swine Influenza (swine flu) is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A influenza viruses that causes regular outbreaks in pigs. People do not normally get swine flu, but human infections can and do happen. Swine flu viruses have been reported to spread from person-to-person, but in the past, this transmission was limited and not sustained beyond three people.
Is this swine flu virus contagious?
CDC has determined that this swine influenza A (H1N1) virus is contagious and is spreading from human to human. However, at this time, it is not known how easily the virus spreads between people.
How does swine flu spread?
Spread of this swine influenza A (H1N1) virus is thought to spread in the same way as the seasonal flu virus. Flu viruses are spread mainly from person to person through coughing or sneezing of people with influenza. Sometimes a person may become infected by touching something with flu viruses on it and then touching their mouth or nose.
What can you do to help protect yourself?
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it. If you don't have a tissue, cough into your elbow.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hands cleaners are also effective.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.
- Use disinfectants on frequently touched surfaces. Germs can also be spread when a person touches an infected surface and then touches their own eyes, mouth or nose.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Camber Pharmaceuticals Inc., which opened offices here just over a year ago, is an emerging generic pharmaceutical and sales and marketing organization backed by Hetero Drugs Ltd., one of India's largest active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) suppliers.
Camber is already supplying generics in therapeutic categories from antihypertensives to antiretrovirals. Through Hetero, Camber will have access to the full range of antiretrovirals in the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) program, says Camber president Briggs Arrington. Companies that participated in the initiative receive special consideration for approval as those antiretrovirals become available in the United States. Camber is one of a very few international companies with access to the full line of antiretrovirals and their APIs. Hetero is currently marketing most of the known antiretrovirals for the Asian and African AIDS markets already, Arrington notes.
"As those drugs become available in the U.S., Camber, through its parent Hetero, will be able to provide a full line of the antiretrovirals economically by being vertically integrated utilizing its own APIs," he says, adding that Camber's closed and controlled supply chain means reliability of supply and cost efficiencies for the marketplace.
Arrington points out that Camber can access more than 150 process patents for APIs and more than 100 drug master files (DMFs) in regulated markets. The company has the potential to bring to market over 250 finished dosage formulations, including tablets, capsules, liquids, soft gels and injectables.
Utilizing Hetero's finished dosage manufacturing facility on Long Island, Camber has a solid U.S. manufacturing base, but that is only half of the story. Hetero early next year expects to complete a 125,000-square-foot FDA-approved facility in India dedicated to the American finished dosage market. With a capacity of over 5 billion tablets, it will be one of the largest Indian finished-dosage manufacturing facilities dedicated to the U.S. generics market. Having manufacturing facilities on two continents will give Camber the service flexibility on key products it needs to ensure an uninterrupted supply, according to Arrington. Buyers want reliability of supply above all else, he adds.
Using the expertise of logistics partner DDN Obergfel, Camber is marketing its line to a broad customer base with complete on-time delivery at a considerable savings, says Arrington. To enhance its positioning, the company is building a management team that knows and understands the American generics market. Megan Hinman was named manager of sales operations in 2007, and Brett Barczak was appointed director of national accounts early this year. Most recently, industry veteran Laura Ciardi has joined Camber to become director of corporate accounts.
"Members of this team are young, energetic, innovative and devoted," Arrington comments. "They're terrific people capable of telling the Camber story with great integrity. I'm proud to be associated with them.
"Our goal is to continue to bring a broad line of generic products forward in 2009 and 2010," he says. "We will be a major player in the U.S. generics finished-dosage market, but we've only just begun."
